Hynek App

Hynek App is a web-based application for children with autism spectrum disorder. The application consists of series of short animations which help to child users with better understanding of social situations and how to behave in these situations in a school and school class environment.

The animations are divided to four chapters displaying following situations:

  1. Greetings classmates
  2. Asking for help
  3. Communicating with classmates
  4. Calming down in class

Hynek App is a pilot project which is currently in a test phase.

Target group

The app is primarily intended for children with autism spectrum disorder at age from 6 to 12 years which attend mainstream elementary schools.

Controls

The app can be used at any device connected to internet (especially on the computer, notebook or tablet) and can be controlled by touchscreen (tablet), touchpad (notebook) or mouse (computer).

Utilization

The app focuses on social skills and social understanding development of children with autism spectrum disorder. It is intended for multiple use (i.e., not for one time use), the children should watch the animations repeatedly.

The animations in the app are divided to four chapters. Each version has the same topic but partly different characters, environments and statements. The purpose of having more versions is to help children to realize that the same social skills can be used in different contexts.
